UX/UI Takeover: Two Day Challenge

New Project?

We’ve decided to embark on a new challenge. What is it, you may ask? I’m taking on my biggest hurdle: iOS app design. Yes, I share your apprehension, but we have two days to build an app and launch it on the market.

Todays Challenge

"Develop a travel app for the Sorrento Community Center to bring in more tourism."

This challenge was initially developed by Chapman University, and I’ve reworked it based on my evolving understanding of UX/UI principles. Join me as I navigate the process over the next 48 hours.

Mockups and Assets

The app is centered around Sorrento's iconic sunrise, located on the Mornington Peninsula, known for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. I incorporated this recognizable feature into the logo and developed a warm, welcoming app to guide users to the town's best restaurants, shops, and waterfront hikes. The app features a beautiful, beach-toned color palette and employs a calm sans-serif type pairing for enhanced legibility and clarity.

My approach emphasized the destination’s unique attractions and activities through a minimalist application layout, prioritizing ease of use and navigation, especially for older users. This allows visitors to quickly find essential information. To build trust and credibility, I included accurate ratings and up-to-date information for restaurants and hotels, enhancing their overall experience and ensuring a pleasant visit.
